Wealth

Wealth

Wealth is something everybody has. It goes way back in history as a notion our ancestors were already dealing with. Although the most common notion of the word “wealth” is that of having plenty of money, being wealthy doesn't just mean that. Wealth is a term ascribed to something that is possessed in great quantities. In today's modern world wherein money makes everything go round, to be wealthy means to own things of economic value. This may mean hard cash, but also assets such as cars, home and land properties, animals, investments, stocks and bonds. Things such as insurance plans and having access to medical and educational services, being able to travel, as well as possessing a superior field of science and technology all contribute to being wealthy.

Material and concrete concepts aside, wealth is used to refer to having personal qualities in large measure. Take for example the sentence, “A man is wealthy if he has friends.” Wealth is also used to pertain to abstract and intangible ideas, such as love. Being “wealthy in love” is a common expression taken to mean that a person has plenty of love to give and likewise has the love of many.

Whatever it concerns, wealth has always been seen as something to be highly valued and taken care of. It is therefore unsurprising that to be wealthy is a cherished ambition by many. People have been looking for ways not just to preserve their wealth, but to make it grow and make sure that nothing bad happens to it.
